Head of the Buenos Aires Government, Jorge Macri, stated on Tuesday that the United States is “the right partner” for Argentina and maintained that in today's world it is necessary to defend “industrial productive sectors, as all governments do.” Macri assured that the City offers the private sector “predictability, clear rules, infrastructure, financing, tax reduction and public spending cuts,” as he expressed this morning while speaking at the Summit of the United States Chamber of Commerce in Argentina (AmCham). The Buenos Aires mayor highlighted the “strengthened link with the United States” that, in his opinion, positions the country “alongside the right partners” and allows for promoting “the appropriate framework for development, which combines openness, investment and a clear view of our productive strengths.” He added that “life, liberty and private property are fundamental values that gain greater relevance in an international context traversed by conflicts and tensions,” alluding to the war situation in the Middle East and Eastern Europe. “We have a vocation for leadership at the regional and global level because we are a city that embraces great challenges,” he noted. By way of example, he recalled: “A few days ago we presented a bill to create the Artificial Intelligence District and convert the Buenos Aires Microcenter in synergy with universities, researchers and developers.” In the opinion of the head of Government, “the wealth of a nation is not in its natural resources but in the freedom of its citizens, as Adam Smith well explained.” “We are building a modern, agile, and efficient state that accompanies the private sector with public order and tools for it to progress, with predictability, clear rules, infrastructure, financing, tax reduction and public spending cuts,” he asserted. He stressed in this sense that the City of Buenos Aires “does not have oil, lithium, minerals, or soybeans,” but it has “human capital, the talent of our people,” and that is why “it is the cradle of nine of the 12 Argentine 'unicorns'”.
